Valorisation of eyewear bioplastics through HTC and anaerobic digestion: Preliminary results

چکیده
Bioplastics are increasingly replacing traditional plastics in many sectors, but the legislative and operative frameworks for their disposal remain unclear: they should be collected treated together with organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW), often do not biodegrade satisfactorily plants that treat OFMSW. This work focuses on a type cellulose diacetate employed eyewear industry to analyse hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) as pre-treatment before anaerobic digestion (AD). The results show HTC can hydrolyse this bioplastic even at moderate temperatures, reaching an almost total dissolution liquid phase 210 °C and, higher producing hydrochar. When slurry obtained is fed mesophilic or thermophilic AD, both amount production rate biogas enhanced compared raw bioplastic. In particular, conditions, produced undergoes least threefold increase untreated diacetate. Thus, confirms prior step may suitable approach enhance energy recovery bioplastics through AD.

Pretreatment and Anaerobic Co-digestion of Selected PHB and PLA Bioplastics
Conventional petroleum-derived plastics are recalcitrant to biodegradation and can be problematic as they accumulate in the environment. In contrast, it may be possible to add novel, biodegradable bioplastics to anaerobic digesters at municipal water resource recovery facilities along with primary sludge to produce more biomethane. In this study, thermal and chemical bioplastic pretreatments we...
متن کاملModeling of Anaerobic Digestion of Complex Substrates
A structured mathematical model of anaerobic conversion of complex organic materials in non-ideally cyclic-batch reactors for biogas production has been developed. The model is based on multiple-reaction stoichiometry (enzymatic hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis), microbial growth kinetics, conventional material balances in the liquid and gas phases for a cyclic-bat...
متن کاملTwo-phase thermophilic anaerobic digestion process for biohythane production treating biowaste: preliminary results.
This paper deals with the optimization of a two-phase anaerobic process treating biowaste for hydrogen and methane production. Neither physical nor chemical pre-treatments were used to optimize the process. The work was carried out at pilot scale, using two CSTRs (200 and 380 L working volume respectively) both maintained at thermophilic temperature (55 C) and fed semi-continuously with biowast...
متن کاملResults of batch anaerobic digestion test – effect of enzyme addition
The hydrolysis of lignocellulose is assumed to be the rate-limiting step in the anaerobic fermentation process. A fungal hydrolytic enzyme mixture was used to assess the enzymatic impact on different feedstocks for biogas production. The optimal conditions for enzymatic hydrolysis of rye grain silage, maize silage, grass silage, feed residues and solid cattle manure were determined in lab-scale...
